Again Nyugen simply called. The turn came 8 of spades. Making either flush a possibility but not for Nyugen. However, that didn’t matter, his two high cards blocked any kind of play his opponent could make toward the flush. Again, Nyugen checked. His opponent bet out 4000, but this time things chanced. Nyugen pulled the old check raise out of his pocket betting 14k into a 12k pot. Unfortunately his opponent was no amateur either, and decided not to make the call. After all, even though the play looked like a steal, the opponent had too few chips to put his tournament life on the line. At that point Nyugen took down the pot. In any event, the above story is a perfect example of how to slow play a monster hand. After all the entire point is to try to get as much of your opponent’s stack into the pot as possible. And one more thing, if you are trying to slow play, remember that’s always better to be one on one rather than have a group pot. Unless of course you flop the nuts.
