More and More Listeners for Classic Songs

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

21-year-old singer Camilla Kerslake (camillakerslake.com) is the first signing to Gary Barlow’s new record label ‘Future Records’. Camilla’s future holds no limits with her rare, elusive, one-of-a-kind classical voice. Camilla was singing opera by the age of 5. By the time she was 14, she had a range half an octave higher than the highest note ever written for the human voice.
The supermarket’s Christmas ads will feature Kerslake as part of a deal to promote her debut album: Waitrose Christmas campaign to promote singer Camilla Kerslake. And Gary Barlow’s luck seems to have rubbed off on his new protege Camilla Kerslake. The singer, who performs Take That’s Rule The World on TV’s lottery show tonight, has shot to No 1 of the Classical Midweek chart with her debut album.

Wrapped up against the bitter cold, aspiring singer Camilla Kerslake stood outside a recording studio in London hoping to catch a glimpse of her hero, Gary Barlow. So virtually every day for six weeks, Camilla would set off from her home in Guildford, Surrey, and catch a train to the studios in Ladbroke Grove, West London, where Barlow has a permanent base.
The student had heard a rumour that the Take That star was launching his own record label – and she was determined to land her first contract.

Her forthcoming single ‘She Moved Through The Fair’ (Out November 2nd) has already been played twice by Terry Wogan, which received an unprecedented response from Radio 2 listeners. Camilla is ecstatic at the prospect of working with him: “Gary’s one of the biggest talents in the whole of the British music industry and an amazing mentor. Any advice he gives me is going to be incredible.”

Tips to a Better Home Entertainment System

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Here’s just a little piece of advice when researching your home entertainment system. List your priorities, taking into consideration what you will be using you system for. Think about your budget. What is the total amount you are willing to spend.

1. Analyze your space. Everybody wants the biggest TV, size does matter, but not everybody has the space to justify it. Sitting 10′ from a 75″ HDTV is just a waste.

2.Sound. Be careful with your sound. If you like action movies or Rap music, you need the right speakers for that. LOTS OF BASS. If you are more interested in classical and need the clear crisp sound bass isn’t the answer.

3. POWER! Much like the size issue as stated above, it’s not necessary to purchase the strongest most powerful system. Think about your budget, weak speakers are not any better with a powerful tuner and vice versa. Will the speakers be surround sound? Wireless? Multi-room? How much power will you need for each option. Amps falls into this category as well. Decide what your system needs depending on what your personal needs are. Back to the hip-hop/ classical question.

4.If you are on a budget, will you be able to upgrade later on? Make sure you have a system that you can expand on. Add more components, make a multi-room speakers, or the new and improved DVR that is sure to be the next “must have”. The double edged sward in the tech business, things are constantly changing and getting better. What is great today will be outed in 6 months when the better model comes out.

5. I know you like your 8 track and vinyl collection. Have it converted. No Need to keep this stuff around. Really! Keeps as a collectors item, I get it! But the sound quality versus whats available now is incomparable. No Offense!

6. Too much of anything is a bad thing. Too much of one and not enough of another is just as bad. Moderation. We all think it’s funny when we see a $1000 Neon with $2000 Halo Rims. You could easily make your home entertainment system look the very same. If you are on a moderate budget, go middle ground. Shop around. Start in stores and then online.
